Snow report Montafon, 04/11/2015
Skitouren in der Silvretta am 11.04 - Standardrouten sind alle schon gut zerpflügt. Wenn es einwenig sicherer wird ist auch noch die ein oder andere steilere Variante möglich. Es gibt noch Möglichkeiten.

Snow condition
Quite ok what is still available. At the moment, all the usual tours are still feasible. The glaciers I've seen seem to be well covered in snow. It will probably be fine until May.
Snow quality
Good firn still needs very good timing. Above 2500 m, there is still a lot of powder on the north side with a thin layer of harsh snow that does not interfere. Then it can alternate between crushed harsch and wet snow, whereby below 2200 m it is soaked in all expos. Certainly strongest on the sunny side.
Risks
Now it's typical spring conditions. Generally very favorable in the morning, but it can become critical from the early afternoon. Many east-west and south-facing slopes have released medium-sized wet snow slides. Above 2500 m you can see many old snow slabs (some of medium size) near ridges and behind ridges (around 40°).
Overall impression
The weather was okay. It needs a few more days with clear nights until there is mostly good firn. Many ski tourers are out and about in the area.
