Snow condition
The wind and the late onset of winter reveal their characteristics. Blown-off ridges characterize the impression in many places. Some of the gullies and hollows are well filled and could be tackled once the situation eases. The snow cover in the Damüls ski area is now sufficient. At lower altitudes, the snow cover is so thin that variants down into the valley are hardly possible.
Snow quality
We were satisfied. No light fresh snow, but good to ski on. The snow was dry and retained its good quality well into the afternoon.
Risks
The wind is the problem here. Some of the fresh snow is only weakly bonded. On short, steeper passages (also below 2000m) we saw small cracks from time to time during the course of the day. However, if you pay attention to the loads, it is quite relaxed in the ski area.
Overall impression
Everything on this day. Bluebird, powder, ice and storm. Most of the carnival guests have already left and the ski area is getting quieter again. I'm looking forward to the quieter weeks ahead.
