Freeriden in Hochfügen
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Lots of fresh snow but not much underneath, that's how the situation can be summarized. At the valley station in Hochfügen there was about 30cm of fresh snow, at 2000m it was already over 40cm. Unfortunately, there's not much underneath, which is not as bad as you might think at first. You rarely get through to the base, but you can always catch stones, especially at the highest altitudes and in ridge areas. In the narrower forest, there is not enough snow as the fresh snow lies on the trees and there is no base, even south-facing slopes are often covered in fresh snow.
Snow quality
Still very good. Not quite as many face shots as yesterday. Slightly wind-affected at higher altitudes, but without a lid. Much warmer than yesterday, but the snow hasn't turned slushy yet. Will still be good tomorrow.
Risks
Three was indicated and can be confirmed. A lot of sluff slides along, and smaller snow slabs could also be observed in the steeper areas.
Overall impression
It's quite nice, even if more underfoot would be nice, but there's plenty of good riding to be found. Snowfall and no visibility in the morning, then the weather improved towards midday. Pleasantly relaxed as there was little activity, a little untracked snow can even be found tomorrow...
