Endlich mal etwas Neuschnee im Mangfallgebirge

Snow condition
Around 20 cm of fresh snow fell overnight. Start and descent from and up to 1100 m were possible. From around 1400 m, the wind influence became more and more noticeable and some of the slopes were more or less completely blown out. The base is still quite thin in this area anyway, so the possibilities are very limited. We looked for "sheltered" lee sides today.
Snow quality
In principle, the fresh snow would not have been bad. Only where there was no wind, the base was very thin. In "protected" areas, however, the skiing was still quite solid.
Risks
The drifting snow was very responsive, both on the ascent and the descent. That wasn't a problem on our meadow tour today, as the snow cover was still very thin in these places. In alpine terrain, where there was already a bit more snow, I would be very critical at the moment and would keep my hands off it for the time being, otherwise the main danger today came from terrain traps and stones.
Overall impression
Finally some snow here too, to make the first turns in the terrain. After having to live with a 15 km radius at the moment due to the corona figures, we are happy when at least the first ski tours are possible on our doorstep.
