Snow report Andermatt / Gotthard, 02/12/2017
Der Föhn hat heute gedrückt und die letzten Tage offenbar geblasen. Der Föhn ist deshalb auch der Spielverderber. Er hat aus guten Bedingungen sehr mässige gemacht.

Snow condition
I guess Andermatt is number 1 in the whole of Central Switzerland in terms of the amount of snow. But even here, rocks and bushes stick out much further from the snow than in other winters. Nevertheless, it is easy to ski down to the valley without much contact with rocks. But your clothes should be tear-proof if you get caught on a branch again.
Snow quality
Gone with the wind applies best in most places. You can always find good sections in places sheltered from the wind. However, due to the sun and warm temperatures, these are likely to become rare in the coming beautiful and warm days.
Risks
SLF Davos reports warning level 2, no special observations made in the terrain. The snow on the sunny slopes is likely to get heavy quickly over the next few days. I would only ski there in the morning at most. And in Andermatt, too, the warning about the thin layer in the snow is definitely valid. Be careful out there. 35 avalanche deaths are more than enough for this winter.
Overall impression
The next few days I take the piste skis out of the cellar. They are simply perfect. And as hard as it must be for you to read in a powder forum: I think skiing on the piste makes more sense over the next few days than skiing off-piste through the broken snow. But that's just it: The main thing is to be in the mountains, in the snow, in the sun, in the fresh air. Enjoy!
