Snow condition
up to 1800m 1-2 stars from 1800m 3 starsIn Kandersteg (1200m) there is no continuous snow cover. It gets better towards the top, but a lot has been destroyed by the rain from Saturday afternoon.above 1800m it looks quite decent (never been there before). Here, too, the snow cover is strongly influenced by the wind - blown-off ridges and crests.
Snow quality
Beautiful powder snow on Saturday morning, which turned into something heavy during the course of the day. On Sunday you could see a crust of rain up to around 2500. It was quite ok to ride with the snowboard.
Risks
Interesting. On the one hand, clear difference according to altitude. (more dangerous at the top than at the bottom)On the other hand: very different conditions on a small scale above 2000m. From Sunnbühl to Hotel Schwarenbach there were a lot of snow slabs on Sunday due to rain and drifting snow (north-westerly orientation). At Daubensee on the other hand (a little further south), at most a few loose snow slides were visible on the western slopes. An ECT did not reveal any ongoing breakage.
Overall impression
Beautiful festival, great mountains, nice people. If only it wasn't so far away...
