Snow condition
Our tour today was in the northern exposure (except for a few meters in the ascent, completely in the descent). We started the tour on skis at an altitude of approx. 1600 m (we hiked a cleared path to the starting point). From the starting point, we were able to ski up to a few meters below the summit without any problems (the last 10 hm or so were blown off). Even a short traverse in the southern exposure on the ascent went without any problems. On the north side, tours should still be feasible at this altitude in the near future.
Snow quality
Nice powder on almost the entire tour! Only in the summit area was there a wind cover on a few turns and some broken snow on the last few meters of the tour in the forest. All in all, just great.
Risks
Nothing unusual on our tour today! The snow cover was already well settled in a steeper section of forest and we were on a moderately steep route in the high Alps. Most of the steep flanks and summits had already been cleared. There was a brisk southerly wind at the start, but it was only weak at the summit. Hidden stones and rocks, which are only lightly snow-covered, still pose a danger. Start early and finish the tour early!
Overall impression
A very nice day! Great weather and good snow and the crowds were limited. Spring can go on like this.
