Leicht gedeckelt und trotzdem cool auf dem Titlis

Snow condition
from 3020 to 1000 meters above sea level is simply perfect. The Titlis is currently regarded as the snowiest mountain in the northern Alps - and not without good reason. Only on very exposed ridges can there still be contact with stones or frozen ground. Otherwise, snow conditions prevail, the likes of which have only been seen at the end of February in recent years. This is confirmed by the employees of the mountain railroads, who confirm that there has not been such a snowy December for years.
Snow quality
It was foggy immediately after the last snowfall on Monday and obviously a little warmer. As a result, a layer around 1 centimeter thick has formed on the snow surface. It's easy to break through with freeride skis. But it still feels a bit strange. It's a mixture of firn and heavy snow. But back in December 2016, it would have been a very good day.
Risks
SLF reports warning level 2, but this cover could now become a weak layer in the snow. And... frost has formed on the surface, which in turn is not exactly conducive to a stable snow cover. But the temperatures are expected to rise by a few degrees over the next few days, then the whole thing can settle and relax.
Overall impression
Beautiful day on the Titlis without any powder stress. Everyone is probably still busy preparing for the food days. It's a shame that a cap has formed on the snow surface. It's only thin and can be cut up easily with the rockers. But because we are still very spoiled in this young winter, it does spoil the fun a little. But this is - compared to the last few winters - complaining on a high level.
