Snow condition

Snow line today at the top of the Feldberg pass. Continuous rain up to the Caritas house, so from then on there was enough snow...

...but very heavy and wet. In the forest towards Herzogenhorn, an impressive amount of snow stuck to the trees. Looks great, not so good for skiing. Many pillow-like hills in the direction of Bernau were quite fun to hop on thanks to the compact snow.

On the tour (Feldbergpass, Herzogenhorn, almost Bernau and back) in principle no dangers. Only the northern slope of the Herzogenhorn should be noted. Here we were tempted to ski a small gully, as the drift snow was quite tempting for 3 turns and seemed rather fluffy. After a brief inspection of the snow cover, however, we decided not to. There was a weak layer shovel handle deep, see pictures.

Overall impression

Two stars for the nature experience and the 4 hours with a good friend really quite alone in the snowy cloud forest. Not really recommendable in terms of downhill skiing. We were surprised to see what was going on when we drove back through the ski area. We suspect that some people are being shuttled by Fahl. It was all over the place and skiers of all stripes were on their feet...
