Snow condition

There is still no snow in the valley. Downhill runs are not possible in the entire Montafon, or if they are, they are only possible on skis. Significantly less snow on the sunny side. On the shady side, the snow cover is starting to grow from around 1500 m. Very homogeneous up to the tree line and approx. 1 m or more. Variable above the tree line. Stone contact still possible. Some sharks are just covered in snow and barely recognizable.

Today we were traveling between 1700m and 2800m NW-NE. There was fine powder everywhere, covered with a thin wind slush depending on the terrain. On average there was a solid 3.

Risks

Level 2 throughout the entire altitude range today, with more and more outbreaks observed throughout the day. In all exposures but mainly on the sunny side. Otherwise no dangers noticed on the ascent and descent up to 35°. The snow cover looks well set. Transitions from a little to a lot of snow and sliding snow cracks should be assessed critically.

Overall impression

3 von 5 Sterne

Beautiful touring day with few people in view of the avalanche of cars that rolled into Vorarlberg today. As the temperature rises but the sun is low, the powder stays preserved even longer. All the standard descents were skied today or yesterday. Extremely steep slopes only occasionally.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
