Snow condition

During the night, there was a significant increase in fresh snow with noticeably colder temperatures. Nevertheless, there is still far too little snow. Caution is actually necessary everywhere, especially as the ridges and transitions are blown off and exposed to the wind. The total amount of snow is currently around 50 cm. Of which approx. 20-30 cm is fresh snow.

Snow quality

2 von 5 Sterne

Perfect powder snow wherever it is reasonably sheltered from the wind. Otherwise the snow is strongly influenced by the wind. Still good to ski, but only with the brakes on and with foresight due to open spots, rocks, tree trunks, bushes etc.

Risks

No observations. However, snow is heavily wind-loaded and drift snow packs are lurking everywhere. After the end of the snowfall, surface frost was able to form for the rest of the night (clear as a star!), which is preserved on the shady side due to the cold.

Overall impression

3 von 5 Sterne

Thanks to the powder snow and pure sunshine, just 3 stars despite the limited snow conditions. Some ski tourers were on their way to the well-known destinations around Niederalpl. The northern gullies of the Kleiner Wildkamm still looked rather unrewarding in terms of downhill skiing (in the ridge area of the Kleiner Wildkamm, the mountain pines are still sticking out of the snow over a large area), but the meadow and alpine pasture terrain already offered good downhill conditions.
