Exposition
Snow condition
By far the best location of the season. In the sparse forest above 1400 ideal treeskiing. In open areas up to 1000m and further down. The mountain pines at the top only look out so far that you can easily ski over/between the last free bushes. Descent to the parking lot on forest roads/trails no problem. Deduction because streams are open at low altitudes and dense forest is impassable. It has continued to shower all day, so that settling and fresh snow roughly balanced each other out today. And here in the east, there's still more to come.
Snow quality
Japow at its very best. Not much more needs to be said. Soft, deep, fast and where it needs to be - right in the face. In the morning, the canopy limit was still well below 800m, then a little higher at midday. The sinking depths are no longer quite as brutal as yesterday on the Wuhrsteinalm. But maybe that's also due to a bit more wind on the Dürrnbachhorn on Mon/Thu and even more frequent ascents.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
Like yesterday: No signs of danger in the alpine pastures up to the tree line. Few signs of wind, but according to the stations, this was the strongest during the first two days of precipitation. The warning level was reduced to 2 below the tree line today (Tyrol bordering even 1). Looking ahead to the weekend, it would be ideal if it settles and eases a little further up. The snow temperature seems to have been quite even. Individual gusts have still brought a bit of snow, but there are no real windslabs on the surface. No observations
Overall impression
What a day! Only nuances are missing for the 5th star. You're just bouncing around in the bottomless elixir and even with the thin spare skis you can still get up to speed at a good 30° - and then in a flash - the summit slope is already over again. Then a quick cry or a cheer or both and again. If tomorrow wasn't another day (and the day after tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow), I'd be up and down until the light goes out. Oida.
