Snow condition
Exactly one month ago I was on the Feldberg for the last time and thought I could see the end of the season coming soon. Nothing there, it has put down a good half meter in the last few days >1000 m, and that is the best quality. Mostly without any base, only in the relevant cirques on the Feldberg was there still something. But I never felt this base today. That should be enough for a few weeks now, even if it warms up again quickly.
Snow quality
1a snow quality for mid/end of March. Very light, fluffy powder, which at least on the north side had no cover. So there was plenty of dust and the odd face shot. The low temperatures <-5°C all day naturally preserved the whole thing well. Tomorrow might be quite good again, after that it's over with the glory.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
I would say it was quite safe today. A bit of blowing at the summit and some drift snow on the leeward slopes, but overall very little wind today. The cornices are bombproof again. Everything possible was skied/jumped here. The next few days will certainly be trickier as the weather warms up...
Overall impression
A beautiful, wintry day on the Feldberg in nice company. Lots of well-placed fresh snow where you could still find a few patches of untouched snow despite the crowds and late start. It was so good that we went up the same slope 4 times...
