Exposition
Snow condition
Below the Bannalp (1600m) there is no need to think seriously about skiing. A solid base above that and with the last fresh snowfalls very good and still possible for quite some time.
Snow quality
Blower.... 15cm at the starting point and increasing significantly with every step. FIVE stars in the morning. Around noon the high fog moved in and below 2000m it became quite humid.
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
Fine powder on a compact base, all without wind. It could always be like this. In our couloir, we expected a lot of sluff to slide along, but that was hardly the case.
Overall impression
What an unexpectedly good day on the Bannalp. Blower at its finest - you don't often ski snow like this. I'm tempted to give it 5 stars - but due to the sun and the upcoming fog, everything got wet far up and will have a cap tomorrow. But sheltered north faces are probably still world class.
