Snow condition
I cycled up to 1400m today, there is still about half a meter in the shade. You can slide down a bit further in some sheltered places. Above 2000m there is still a lot of snow.
Snow quality
Unfortunately, it wasn't so outstanding, because there was either slowing wet snow or rough harsh snow. In the sun, the snow cover softens very quickly and unfortunately hardly develops any real firn. Only a short section between 1800 and 1700 m was quite good. Unfortunately no summer firn yet.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
Snow cover with little cold reserve. There is still a lot of rumbling from steep walls in the uppermost layers. But many areas are already unloaded. Tw large mouths of snow in very steep walls.
Avalanche activity
Wet snow avalanche (medium)
Altitude: 2000 m
Overall impression
As always, a beautiful atmosphere on the local mountain. Unfortunately, there wasn't much good snow. But great wildlife spotting and, at least in the morning, a great view. I also think it's very cool that there's still quite a lot of snow at high altitudes. A few tours at home should still be possible. Nevertheless, now would be the time for a trip south. Precipitation is coming at the weekend, let's see what it looks like afterwards.
