Treeruns im Wipptaler Raum

Overall impression
Snow condition
Thanks to the recent snowfall, the Wipptal area has a decent base. You can ski back down to the valley without any problems, and it also looks good in the forest. Only in very dense forests is there still a bit of snow, but you can't really ski down there anyway, and above the tree line the snow conditions are characterized by wind, ridges and ridges are blown away.
Snow quality
After Sunday's total disaster (completely soaked fresh snow up to over 2000m), there was still some nice powder snow on top. So today there was a good 30cm of fresh snow of a nice powdery quality. The snow was really good to ski on in the reasonably light forest, but above the tree line the snow was clearly influenced by the wind and a little compressed. However, this was only the uppermost part of our tour.
Risks
There were a large number of already released sliding snow avalanches, most of them on slopes exposed to the south and southwest. The danger of sliding snow avalanches is to be considered on steep meadow slopes but also in other exposures and above the tree line the avalanche danger is critical. A clear wind influence could be seen and felt in the uppermost part of the tour. Therefore, it is currently better to stay below the tree line, where the snow is also much better! According to the LWD, there is also a risk of an old snow problem above the tree line. Keep an eye on the avalanche report and blog and avoid north-facing slopes above the tree line for the time being.
Overall impression
Very nice touring day with nice treeruns and good snow. On descents like this, you're happy to hit the slopes several times!
I definitely recommend looking for treeruns > 1500m for the next few days, you can have a lot of fun there at the moment :)
