Snow condition
It is no longer possible to ascend from the Achental side without carrying, but the route is still short if you are free of pain. Yesterday's fresh snow has provisionally filled gaps in the old snow cover. In addition, there is very little snow on the shaded side (1000 - 1400m) even in the middle of the alpine pastures, the south side is bare anyway. Above that, filled gullies and hollows as well as open slopes can be skied without hesitation.
Snow quality
It was already much worse this evening than it apparently was in the morning (see other CRs). Harsch cover has started to form and could just about be 'pushed'. The fresh snow has accumulated to (more or less subjective) 5cm.
Risks
The Leitn on the Breitenstein showed a few small cracks, the Geigelstein plateau a larger one. That didn't stop a few tourers from entering the even steeper 'Hirsch' gully. Either courageous, or very good knowledge of the area and snowpack... Thanks to overcast skies and warm temperatures, the brittle snowpack settles quickly, but tomorrow will certainly be tricky again.
Overall impression
Well, after work outside again
