Snow condition
The snow conditions on the piste are good thanks to last week's grooming work. Even after the fresh snow, nothing is possible off-piste yet, in the Lizumer Kar and in the basin at Dohlennest there are still a lot of stones sticking out, but a first base has been laid...
Snow quality
After last night's fresh snowfall, it was time to check the situation in the Lizum. The snow quality up to an altitude of 2,400 m can be described as "well". Patches of almost fluffy hedgehog powder (rare) alternate with lots of wet fresh snow (frequent). A descent is fun again after the summer break, but not necessarily worthwhile.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
No signs of spontaneous avalanche activity after the fresh snowfall. There is currently still a lack of quantity. However, the potentially weak old snow cover on north-facing slopes will have to be taken into account in the near future and with the next (hopefully soon to come) fresh snowfalls
Overall impression
Quite ok for the first ski tour of the year, at least no rock contact. Visibility was ok, certainly no better on a glacier or similar in the morning. For interesting and good descents in the terrain, however, there is still a lot missing!
