Snow condition

As already mentioned in the last CRs, the snow conditions are actually quite good for the time of year. In the Brenner region, you can often find a good base and can actually ski down all the side valleys of the Wipptal to the various parking lots. In the denser forest, however, the base is still lacking, but things look better in open areas.

Snow quality

Today we only skied in the whale area, where we found beautiful powder snow on a soft base. Little wind influence in the area, therefore really unbound powder. Light cover and little snow in sunny sections.

Above the tree line there is still a lot of drifting snow, even at lower elevations there is sometimes wind influence, but not as much drifting snow. Potential sliding snow avalanches are particularly dangerous at low altitudes at the moment (see photo). Above the tree line, caution is still the order of the day, especially with the coming warm front...

Overall impression

Heute nochmal schöner Tag im Waldbereich in der Brennerregion. Wird langsam schon zum Standard für mich dort in die verschiedenen Seitentäler reinzuschauen. Auf jeden Fall heute nochmal paar schöne Turns mitgenommen, für echte Faceshots hat's zwar nicht ganz gereicht, aber besser als nichts! Ab morgen wahrscheinlich deutlich schlechter im Gebiet. Zudem noch den ganzen Tag keine anderen Tourengeher getroffen und das ganze Gebiet für uns gehabt, dass kann sich doch mal sehen lassen.
