Variations of snow cover

Still in contact with the ground in the deeper forest, but no basis on the south side. but with careful riding you can get down into the valley without any damage. above the forest line, the snow alternates strongly between blown off and blown in. In the light forest and overall for the beginning of December really great!

Powder snow
Wind drifted snow

Top powder from the bottom, especially in the forest without any bindings. Pressed in aisles or on ridges at/above the tree line. Only full south from late morning with a lid.

Wind drifted snow

Intensity: strong

Altitude: 1600 m – 1900 m

Risks

Fresh avalanches
Woom- or hissing noise
West

Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)

Heavy drift snow problem on open slopes due to strong westerly winds. Packs are easily disturbed. Slopes are very different and need to be assessed individually. Had a few surprises in store today. No obvious old snow problem until 1900. No wind today up to 50m below the summit, then strong. No noticeable warming as clouds started to gather from midday.

Avalanche activity

Dry slab avalanche

Worse

Top weather with great powder and fun forest runs. A very instructive day, including the consideration of both LLBs in neighboring regions.
