Snow condition

Snow conditions at Spitzingsee are borderline thin. No base in southern exposures, ski tours only halfway possible on well-worn routes/former pistes. Fresh snow is heavily loaded and downhill skiing without ground contact is only possible in snow-covered gullies, hollows or in areas protected from the wind.

Snow quality

Fresh snow at Spitzingsee approx. 10 cm, further up 15-20 cm. Top powder skiing where protected from the wind, otherwise fresh snow was completely blown away.

Fresh drift snow above the tree line; extensive drifting near the crest and on exposed slopes.

Overall impression

Skitouren aktuell nur in windgeschützten Bereichen und eingewehten Mulden wirklich gut; sonst einfach zu wenig Schnee und großteils kaum Unterlage. Es braucht weiter mehr Schnee.
