Snow report Tannheimer Valley, 02/20/2022
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Altitude
1100 - 3800m
Avalanche warning level
moderate (2)
Exposition
Snow condition
OK, but not thrilling. There wouldn't have been enough snow in the light forest.
Snow quality
A few cm of slightly damp snow on a more or less hard surface went quite well. Below about 1600m the base was too soft. Close to the ridge, there were large blown-out areas with very hard snow.
Risks
Wind intensity: High (40 – 60 km/h)
Last week there were a few larger sliding snow slides, today we didn't see anything conspicuous, and the old snow problem described by LLB is currently too much like Russian roulette for demanding tours.
Overall impression
Snow is coming again, but this time with a lot of wind... Let's see where it stays :-)
