Firn
Powder snow

In shady cirques and gullies 4 stars, minimally wind-affected powder on a soft base, really great to ski. S had not yet firned up at 11, SO was fine. But it still didn't have the consistency you want for firn. Powder still to be found down to 1400.

Risks

Diurnal warming

Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)

The daytime warming must be taken into account in some places. On the Elfer, a cornice broke off at some point in the last few days, triggering a small avalanche that reached the ascent track. Otherwise very stable. Only from 45° onwards did the wedges slip away a little on hairpin bends.

Overall impression

3 von 5 Sterne

You can find top powder right next to popular tours. And it extends quite far down too. It's worth looking for shady gullies and gaps.
