Snow condition
Can still be given three stars. Start from P to 1000 still possible on base. The dirt only came through briefly in the forest. In the north-facing Kaiserkaren, the situation at medium altitudes is unfortunately below average. It won't be possible until June this year. More fresh snow than expected, but with a lot of blowing. At the top of the couloirs, protected by the rocks, there was sometimes a good half meter, those were the most beautiful parts yesterday.
Snow quality
Unusually cold, fluffy april snow until late afternoon and almost all the way down. Fine! Actually four stars, but from the middle section onwards the rain crust was always noticeable or even exposed due to drifting
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: medium
Altitude: 1500 m – 2200 m
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
Many avalanche boulders from the warm period. No new activity observed. llb 1, from my point of view the large open slopes with lots of drifting snow were more critical at high altitudes than the steep gullies leading up to the couloirs. During showers, strong gusts from all directions, mainly east (!)
Overall impression
Really fine day in the Kaiser, unexpectedly much and good fresh snow. The only thing missing for the fourth star is a more even distribution in the middle section
