Snow condition
Thanks to the high starting height, it was no problem to ski back down to the car without making contact with the enemy. The obstacles in the open areas are well covered in snow. Only on the edges of the terrain should you watch out for stones. A few cm of fresh snow at the start, then around 30 cm from around 2000 m upwards. Due to the warm temperatures over the next few days, the snow conditions will worsen, especially below 2000 m.
Snow quality
Very fine powder snow in April. Butter-soft to ski on with only slight settling. The sun was really strong and we were back at the car before 11 am. Perfect timing for perfect snow.
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
From around 9 a.m., numerous loose snow avalanches have already come down from the sunny steep terrain. In the steeper ski terrain, you could already see isolated loose snow avalanches close to the crest (presumably these avalanches came down yesterday, they were already there today at around 7 am). There were isolated accumulations of drift snow in the terrain near and far from the ridge (we didn't head for this terrain at all). There was hardly any wind on the tour today. Only in the summit regions could you see isolated snow drifts (southerly wind). Start early and finish activities early. LWS 2 up to 2600 m, >2600 m LWS 3.
Overall impression
The best weather and great powder, what more could you want in April?
