Nicht Kitzsteinhorn - aber die Granatspitzgruppe liegt nahe dran.

Overall, quite normal for the time of year. However, the distribution is very unusual. Some areas (especially gullies) are extremely well filled - as usual in April. Others are still quite thin. The normal ascent to the Granatspitze is not yet possible, so only 2 stars - otherwise it would have been 3. Stone contact is only to be feared on the valley descent.

Snow quality

As expected, no powder. But well-placed, homogeneous and without broken snow. Grippy and still soft on the surface - there was a little dust :-)

Risks

The fresh drifts from the LLB were very small-scale and rare. On the Sonnblick you could see old crevasses, otherwise everything seemed very stable. You could definitely venture into a steep gully.

Overall impression

Very nice for the current situation and a bit of training at altitude doesn't hurt either. Dream weather on Saturday. Sunday unfortunately foehn again (+7 degrees at 1500m - just around 0 at 2500m).

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
