Zauchensee/Flachauwinkel: Good foundation and finest powder above 1,300m

Snow condition

Fresh snow around 30 cm overnight, in total around 1 meter in the last few days, more in places. The snow line was quite high at the start of the snowfall, so the amount of snow increased with altitude. Ski tours possible from approx. 1,000m, below that damp and little snow. Above approx. 1,200m good snow conditions, downhill skiing in the forest without any problems

Snow quality

Above approx. 2,300m finest powder, below 2,300m already heavily settled due to heat and light melt crust

From the tree line onwards, extensive drifting snow in all exposures, strong to stormy winds

Overall impression

In den letzten Tagen gut 1 Meter Neuschnee oder mehr, allerdings recht warm, d.h. Regen in Tallagen und die Neuschneemengen erst oberhalb ca 1.300m. Nacht auf Samstag 30-40 cm Neu, perfekte Bedingungen im Waldbereich, oberhalb Waldgrenze starke Verfrachtung, Triebschnee und entsprechen nix mehr mit Powder. Heikle Situation oberhalb der Waldgrenze.
