Altitude

1100 - 1700m

Avalanche warning level

low (1)

Exposition

East South-East South

Snow condition

3 von 5 Sterne
50 cm fresh snow
Descent to valley (to 1100 m)

Much improved, but still thin. Good on meadows, still problematic on terrain transitions. Stone contact avoidable.

Snow quality

Powder snow

Fluffy and cold powder. Unbound and rarely influenced by the wind.

Risks

Much fresh snow
Much water in the snow cover
North-Eas

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

Everything is a bit more dangerous in the whiteout, and the amount of fresh snow is definitely considerable. Nevertheless, we found the terrain too flat and the snow too powdery and unbound. Hopefully there won't be any more wind!

Overall impression

Better

I have hardly any idea what the conditions were like before this northern thaw, but they were certainly very green and unsuitable for ski tours. Now everything is covered in deep snow at Spitzingsee and the season could start! We had to contend with poor visibility and constant snowfall, but we were happy to do so. It was nice not to be sweating in the sun on a ski tour and then cruising on firn. Some powder, up to half a meter, without sun but nice to ski on the edge of the forest! Dream day!
