Not a little anyway and again the familiar pattern: increasing rapidly and markedly with altitude. Nevertheless, at the bottom (approx. 1000m) it is a little too low to cover all the dead and damaged wood.

Snow quality

Nothing. Nothing at all! Very hard at the top (wind plus layer of water ice). In the middle, loose snow covered with a layer of glass (see photos), which was actually quite nice (if exhausting) for a slope for a short time. Then a forest road cleared to the bottom. Then wet snow at the bottom. Funny detail: The access road to a part of the village (the post bus came towards me) was easier to drive than the cleared forest road (hunting season ...).

Risks

According to LWD 2. no special signs, at the very top tree-free ridges largely blown off. The glass layer (if it doesn't thaw away) could become an unpleasant weak layer after the next snowfall (supposedly Sunday).

Overall impression

It was nothing today, even if the terrain did give a little hint that the area (Frein an der Mürz) is rightly popular in the eastern Austrian ski touring scene.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
