Zuviel Neuschnee, Zuviel Wind oder der Regen?

Snow condition
The snow conditions are now really great compared to the last few years, a start at 400m is possible. With the onset of snowfall on Thursday, around 40cm was added. This means about 20cm at 400m and about 120cm at the top of the highest Black Forest peak, depending on exposure and wind influence.
Snow quality
Forty centimetres is actually great, but the snow is almost unrideable, you either need slopes that are currently too steep or enough run-up to avoid getting stuck. The snow is light, you can't really get through Wednesday's rain crust.
Risks
The rain from Wednesday to Thursday went very far up and left a good crust on which the new snow doesn't have a good connection. I'd be careful whether the whole slope on the known avalanche tracks can go down on this weak layer. The wind influence was extremely noticeable today, I assumed that the wind had dropped significantly yesterday evening, but the wind signs speak a different language.
Overall impression
Unpacked the wide battens today, unfortunately it was too dangerous in the steep and too flat in the safe spot to make it a four-star day. With the right speed it was a mega evening.
Tomorrow we'll start at the front door again, it's been years since this was last possible :D There will probably be a rush around the Feldberg tomorrow. Let's hope that nothing happens, the conversations next to us were telling as far as the low mountain safety attitudes of some of our contemporaries are concerned. Compared to Friday last week, there was a lot less going on at lunchtime today, but only the tobogganing crowd was missing, there were plenty of tourers out and about.
