Snow condition
The fresh snow came later than expected. It didn't snow overnight, but only in the morning, but all the more heavily. By the early afternoon, around 25 cm had fallen in the valley and 30-40 cm at altitude.
Snow quality
Below about 2000m it was rather sticky and wet, but above that it was dry and without wind.
Risks
As the snowfall didn't start until the morning and the snow was still falling without wind, it was possible to do some off-piste runs. The snow only started to fall around midday. The risk of avalanches will increase significantly over the next few days as it gets windier and more snowfall is forecast.
Overall impression
A Christmas present in advance. You didn't have to be an early riser today, as the snow only fell during the morning. But it came down heavily and without any wind. Despite the poor visibility, it was a great day because there were hardly any people out and 30-40 cm of fresh snow on and off the piste was simply fantastic to ski on. Luckily there were no snow groomers in use, so the slopes were completely untracked with lots of fresh snow. Powder skiing on the slopes without any fear of stones or other dangers. That rarely happens.
