Snow condition
In the valley 50cm+ on the mountain, the influence of the wind is clearly visible and so even at over 2,000 meters, some of the ridges are completely cleared of snow. Overall, however, it is not a problem to find contact runs without a base.
Snow quality
Contrary to the weather forecast, it snowed all day, with more than 10 cm of fine, light fresh snow already falling in the valley in the morning. Western slopes were heavier late in the afternoon, although there was hardly any wind during the day and it snowed almost the whole time, we couldn't really make sense of it.
Risks
The accumulations of drift snow that have formed in the last few days are difficult to recognize due to today's fresh snow and, according to the bulletin, are the main source of danger alongside a widespread problem with old snow.we were only out and about in forest areas due to the whiteout and therefore couldn't see any direct avalanches. However, we did notice a lot of sliding snow cracks, some of which were over 2,000 meters high on south-facing slopes.
Overall impression
Nice day for cruising in the forests of Val D'Isere, with a bit of running and pushing we were able to secure some slopes
