Snow condition
At the start about 10-15 cm of fresh snow and with increasing altitude it quickly became more. From 2000 m up to 30 cm. West sides are pretty blown out. In general, the snow cover is quite inhomogeneous.
Snow quality
Unfortunately, the wind became active and more dominant as the morning progressed. I think we found a good line where the wind influence was manageable. The fresh snow has already settled well today.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
Would take a more critical view of the situation than in today's avalanche report. The amounts of fresh snow are greater than in the forecast and where the wind came to work, you could hear settlement impulses, especially at transitions from more to less snow and vice versa. As a result, we adjusted the tour and were out and about on flatter terrain. Where there was hardly any wind, the connection to the old snow was very good. In the early morning you could see loose snow slides from steep terrain.
Overall impression
Top start to the new year, it can go on like this!
