Snow condition

10 cm fresh snow
Descent to valley (to 1500 m)

Good snow conditions in the Kalkkögeln. However, due to the storm around Christmas, some of the ridges were blown away before the snowfall and a few stones still lurk treacherously beneath the snow surface. Especially in steep, rocky gullies, a little caution is still advisable. However, the standard gullies all go quite well, the wider the better.

Snow quality

3 von 5 Sterne
Hard, pressed snow
Powder snow

Approx. 10 cm of fine fresh snow, but there is an icy crust underneath for the most part. In some places, a little more has been deposited in hollows, which even made for surprisingly good riding fun at sufficient speed. All in all, don't be fooled by the photos, which would be enough for some Instagrammers to say #bestdayever.

Risks

West

Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)

Watch out for drift snow and sliding snow. In general, the little fresh snow lies on a stable layer of old snow.

Happy New Year to all PG'ers! Nice start to 2024 with more riding fun than expected. After the first leisurely lap, there was a nice groove for good measure. A little more fresh snow is slowly needed though...

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
