Snow condition

10 cm fresh snow
Descent to valley (to 1900 m)
Blown backs
Variations of snow cover

The snow conditions cannot be assessed on the back, as almost everything has blown off. Otherwise, the snow conditions are quite good, no rock contact and it is easy to ski down to the bottom. Nevertheless, you can clearly see that there are places with a lot and little snow right next to each other.

Snow quality

3 von 5 Sterne
Hard, pressed snow
Breakable crust
Wind drifted snow

The snow quality is variable and strongly dependent on exposure and wind influence. On the north side, you can find a kind of powder in places, but this is already quite wind-influenced. On the south side, the snow quality in hollows was surprisingly good.

Wind drifted snow

North North-Eas West North-West

Intensity: low

Risks

Fresh avalanches
South-West

Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)

The main danger at the moment is drift snow. This lies in many exposures and is easy to trigger. With increasing altitude, there is significantly more drift snow and a poorer connection to the old snow.

Avalanche activity

North

Dry slab avalanche

Altitude: 2600 m

Worse

Beautiful and lonely day of touring. While the masses set off from the parking lot in the direction of Rietzer Grieskogel, we did a nice tour a little further east with some pretty respectable snow. Between 2,000 and 2,500 m there is good snow with a fairly good connection to the old snow, above that it becomes much more dangerous depending on the exposure and steepness.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
