Went touring on the Dachstein today. The glacier is very well snowed in. There was only one place where you could still see some ice. Places exposed to the wind, ridges and crests are pretty much blown off.

After it unfortunately rained up to 2000 m yesterday and the planned tour fell through, we looked for a high destination today and that was a good thing. Today we skied a lot on drift snow and the sinking depths were manageable. Fortunately, there was still no cover and if you looked at the wind tracks and avoided them, you could still find quite nice conditions. Just 3 stars.

Risks

The wind got stronger and stronger over the course of the day and has blown a lot of snow. You should be very careful on drifting snow, especially high up in the Alps.

Luckily much better than yesterday, but no comparison to the last few days and weeks. The weather held up well until midday.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
