Snow condition

3 von 5 Sterne

Today's CR refers to the high alpine area above 3000m. The snow conditions are good, but no longer. All the snow from the winter has not remained due to the many storms in the mountains. The flanks of the 4000m peaks have been swept bare. Eiger W flank is not yet skiable. The Jungfrau is bare at the top, but was tackled today. The Nollen is totally bare. But the crevasses are well snowed in.

On the south side, the steep slopes are increasingly snowy. On the north side, the snow is partly powdery and partly wind-pressed. You have to read the snow surface a little. The plains (Aletschglescher) are uneven and sometimes hard-packed by the wind. We urgently need really good spring snow without wind.

Risks

Stable.

Overall impression

The ski touring season has begun. Today, around 100 people climbed up towards Louwitor to reach the Lötschenlücke. All huts in the area are open.

But the conditions in the ski areas are still great, or almost better (less wind at lower altitudes). Recommendation: Schilhorn.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
