Snow condition
High altitude Kühtai and north-facing means starting at the parking lot. Sufficient snow on the northern side of the valley, real winter ambience. No sharks on the chosen tour and only bare at the summit.
Snow quality
Nice moist powder on top, approx. 10cm. Depending on exposure and altitude: loose snow, firn, slush. Everything was easy to ski and fresh at the top was surprisingly almost powder-like.
Risks
New wet snow slides of moderate thickness on north and east-facing slopes. The diurnal warming was noticeable.
Overall impression
I only tackled the last quarter of the desired steep cirque due to concerns about the avalanche situation. Still a good tour. Many of the Tyrolean ski tourers were there. Loneliness factor low...
