Snow condition

3 von 5 Sterne

The snow conditions in the Brenner mountains are good and you can ski down to the valley very well. Due to the strong wind, some of the ridges and crests are blown off.

Snow quality

At the same time, the wind also determines the quality of the snow, so you can still find beautiful powder in the lee and below the tree line, while otherwise the snow cover is determined by a brittle windsnow cover.

Risks

Despite the reduction to warning level 2, the situation remains very tense. Due to the strong wind, the snow was displaced over a large area and old spontaneous snow slabs could be seen in various exposures. In the ridge region, we finally abandoned our ski tour as the snow profile showed two relevant weak layers and a lot of drifting snow.

Overall impression

Away from the endangered regions and below the tree line, you can have a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the tour had to be aborted due to the tricky avalanche situation at higher altitudes - hence only three stars in the overall rating.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
