Snow report Montafon, 01/17/2015

Netter Powdertag! Aber es hat einfach zu wenig Schnee für viele Varianten.

Still very modest. The approx. 25 cm are more cosmetic. Above 2000 m in shaded terrain (where the old snow problem is), the one or other relaxed line could be skied. Therefore above 2000m 2 stars and below 1 star. Below 1600 m it is once again the 1st snow on the sunny side.

The fresh snow had already settled noticeably overnight and was lightly packed. Over the course of the day, the southerly wind led to drifting and light wind slush, first in the ridges and then further down. There were already signs of a melting snow cover on the south side in the late afternoon. January can do much better.

Risks

Blasting successes, spontaneous descents and loose snow slides from extremely steep terrain are clearly visible. The latter have increased throughout the day. In many places, the loose fresh snow lies on a hardened surface. The old snow problem will keep us busy for a while unless we get more than 1 m of fresh snow without wind. According to my observations, the 3 m can be classified in the lower range (at least up to 2,400 m).

Weathery day with lots of rides, which had to be planned well today as the crowds in the area were huge. By the evening, all the lift-accessible terrain was covered. With further crossings, a few more spots could be snatched in the afternoon and with ascents (>500m) there are still some worthwhile descents. There was no time for photos today ;-)

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
