Snow report Sölden, Ötztal, 12/19/2014

Overall impression
Snow condition
As already described, about 15cm new from 2300m, from here the snow conditions are really ok. Compared to the Obergurgl ski area, which also looked good, every side valley to the south is getting better. The wind has done a great job so that the snow depth often varies greatly. On the south side, you can only ski in gullies and hollows
Snow quality
Good in sheltered areas. Otherwise, you will only find dry, wind-pressed snow that is still quite passable to ski on. However, the quality of the snow has steadily declined due to the constant influence of the wind.
Risks
Difficult. All the snow was influenced by the wind. We were also able to observe crystals building up in the snow cover on the ridges. Especially in transitions from a little to a lot of snow, you break through to this layer. No avalanches could be observed. Overall, a lot of wind but still quite good.
Overall impression
2 very nice days, now fortunately the days are getting longer again and you have more of them. One of the better places in Tyrol
