Lobet den Herrn! - Treeskiing vom Feinsten
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Below the tree line: at least knee- to thigh-deep fresh snow on a sufficient base down to the valley; a little less in the dense forest, but still very fun. Above the tree line, the storm has blown everything away, so that the bare top and meter-deep drift snow alternate seemingly at random (shifting winds) every few meters
Snow quality
Much nicer light powder...where it could fall calmly it doesn't go much better, but therefore unfortunately also heavily freighted by the storm at the top
Risks
LBB: Level 3 above 2200 m: Today it would have made more sense to divide the snow into wind-affected and wind-unaffected areas. Dangerous drift snow was also to be found down to 1700m, depending on the wind. We were almost exclusively on wind-calmed slopes, which was relatively safe and no pow-or-cover lottery before every turn.
Overall impression
The only thing missing for an absolutely perfect day was: Bluebird, a little more carpet pad at the bottom, -less competition (we were still able to pull virgins at about 15:15...knew where), nicer open slopes at the top. All in all a brilliant day where it was hard not to believe in force majeure. No coreshots - lots of faceshots
