Snow condition
There is still snow on the piste as far as the Tuxer Fernerhaus, but you have to walk a bit to the glacier bus 3, although there is still quite a lot of snow on the glacier for this time of year after last week's snowfall. There is hardly any glacier ice on the piste yet, and the snow is still pretty good off-piste.
Snow quality
After a clear, relatively cold night, the slopes were initially well frozen. On the sunny side of the Olperer, it quickly became soft, while the pistes on the Gefrorene Wand remained grippy for much longer. Good skiing for the time of year in the first few hours.
Risks
Watch out for crevasses! With the rise in temperature and the sunny weather, there will soon be a lot more crevasses, and on the only slope that is remotely suitable for off-piste skiing, you can see a large transverse crevasse, the contours of which indicate that it is much longer than is currently visible.
Overall impression
After the cold front and the good weather forecast for today, we got the snowboard out of the corner again. In my opinion, it was worth it - a really good day's skiing for mid-August!
