Snow condition

3 von 5 Sterne

Above 1300m between north and east 3-4 stars, pillows, no ground contact. Other expos 2-3 stars, blown off, partly ice, below 1300m snow cover decreasing rapidly, 2-1 star. In the valley at 720 about 15 cm, at 1600m in the lee certainly 50 cm new. You can reach the valley on meadows without damage, but not without ground contact.

A really good mix of drift snow, sleet and powder between north and east today. A bit compact due to the wind, but super flotation and awesome to ride. Won't get any better over the next few days with the warmth. Below 1200m, all expos were already capped in the early afternoon. South and west should be avoided on the descent.

Risks

It's still blowing hard today, drifting snow is omnipresent and present in large quantities. You should take good care. The snow is best between north and east, but that's where it's dangerous. I've been up to the tree line and avoided everything above 35° and the last 100 m in the gully on the Steineberg. Some of the drifting snow slabs broke off above 30° and in some places on the flat it settled around you in a small but audible way.

Took advantage of today's slot, did everything right with the choice of tour and had great snow. After the weekend, it will probably be over again up to 1500m...
