Snow condition
According to the SLF, there is currently more than 170% of the long-term average snowfall. Our landlord can't remember ever having seen so much snow here before Christmas. That's def. the place to ride ...There is at least 80cm of snow above 2000m in the area. Tonight there was another 5cm of fresh powder. Stones and other obstacles are very well snowed in, some of the streams are not yet covered.
Snow quality
Start today at approx. -15°C, at 2,200m. Quite strong SW wind. On the ridges well above freight strength. Great pow at first, the higher up the more wind-capped. Above 3,000m a lot is blown away. There are also many older downhill tracks in the area, but hey, you can ski here, so don't complain.
Risks
Tricky!!! According to SLF only level 2 today, but there is a massive old snow problem. We've seen two large slabs of snow that have cracked to the bottom and were caused by skiers skiing down. But that must have been at least a day ago, because there's fresh snow on top now.
Overall impression
Sensational for the time of year. Even a cloudless sky this morning. In the afternoon, high clouds and diffuse visibility on the descent, but a 3,000-meter peak at the start of the season is not always available, hence 4 stars.
