Sonnenkopf ... die Sonne war da, jedoch findet man nur early POW
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Very modest, the last warm days and the lack of precipitation contribute to the already quite good base becoming even firmer, but ... a base alone at the end of January is a bit tepid. Hopefully the situation will change soon. You should be careful where you ski in the backcountry ... below 1400 meters, you can almost forget it, as spring will soon set in if it continues like this. Above 1400 meters you can actually still find some good pow in the morning, but it's really rare.
Snow quality
On the north side, you can still get quite fluffy pow, but this turns out to be in short supply and is really rare. Otherwise, it is quite unpleasant to ski from midday onwards. There is heavy snow with some amazing slabs of ice. So ... the early bird catches the worm ... ahem sry the rare Pow.
Risks
Looks pretty safe, except for a few spots on the southern slopes, where some wet snow bees have clearly already left. Wet grass and high temperatures are the cause.
Overall impression
Well, a bit of shredding and playing around is possible, but really beautiful descents or even deep snow slopes are out of the question ....
