Snow condition
There is now a solid basis. The possibilities are currently improving from day to day. Today, the cold fresh snow was approaching 50 cm again. However, terrain traps such as streams, fences, tree stumps etc. are still an issue. However, the base is already quite close to 4 stars.
Snow quality
Lots of cold fresh snow and no traces of wind in the forest today, it could hardly be better in our area. Great!
Risks
Compared to yesterday, there were no wind tracks in the forest today. The whole thing made quite a solid impression today. The wind was relatively weak today. Yesterday, for comparison, there were a lot of extremely untypical drift snow accumulations even in the quite dense forest. At the moment, you first have to get an idea of the overall situation in any terrain below the tree line. It's quite difficult to make general statements at the moment. I definitely don't want to go above the tree line at the moment. The run-off zones of the surrounding terrain should also be taken into account. The LLB sums up the current problem very well! You should also keep in mind this week's entry on the gray snow. Tomorrow's warm front with lots of precipitation will further exacerbate the situation, keyword "warm to cold".
Overall impression
Very smooth, fine dog, we could hardly miss anything (except the competition). Today is the first time I'm awarding 5 stars for an area day. Normally these are only possible for me on tour days ;).
