An extraordinary amount of snow in the Ecrins and at our starting point Col du Lautaret. There are 2 meters of snow piled up at the side of the road and whole mountain huts are only looking out with their bay windows, and in La Grave and the Ecrins many unique lines are possible this year (as soon as the avalanche situation eases)!

Snow quality

Above 2500 m on the south side still powder, below that transition from firn-like snow to barely skiable slush. 3/4 of the descent but great skiing today. It's difficult to find really good conditions at the moment. A lot is covered by the wind, on the south side the change from powder to slush happens in no time.

Risks

Daytime warming, smaller wet snow avalanches observed on the south sideToday, strong winds at high altitude, which are transporting the loose snow further. Avalanche situation will certainly remain tense over the next few days.

Very nice tour today with usable weather and a nice descent in powder and firn

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
