Snow report Kleinwalsertal, 12/15/2020
Optisch Ok - aber zu noch wenig Schnee
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Start from the closed parking lot on skis. But only thanks to the snow-covered slopes. The base is still missing, so 15 cm at 1000 meters / 30 - 40 cm at 2000 meters.
Snow quality
Heavy powder above 1500 meters below "beautiful" cardboard snow
Risks
The greatest danger still comes from rocks, tree stumps and streams with little snow on them. Due to the plus temperatures, even at 2000 meters the snow became heavy and could easily slide in steep terrain
Overall impression
Kleinwalsertal got a little more snow than the Allgäu - but still not enough to make big trips into the outback or off-piste. Always in contact with the ground. The pistes have been diligently covered with artificial snow over the last few days. But not groomed or rolled - and especially not for ski tourers. You don't really want them in the closed ski areas. Somehow understandable. That's why you should never use pistes for ascents and only use them for descents if there is no other option. Most parking spaces
are closed or have deliberately not been cleared. Therefore, pragmatic arrival by bike and skis (-; Conclusion: exercise in the snow with skis on the mountain but the skiing experience is still missing.
