Snow condition

2 von 5 Sterne

Descent to the valley floor below the gullies (1800m) possible. However, there were always bushes to be seen and the snow cover was probably no more than 20-30cm thick. In stony terrain, that would have been bad for the skis. The gullies were filled OK. We had to avoid a gully that was not filled enough by crossing a snow-free ridge into another gully (5-10m).

Snow quality

2 von 5 Sterne

Partly with a hard crust. As soon as you are out of the sheltered gullies, very changeable and then often difficult to ride. Not influenced by the sunny days on the north side. 2 stars because there was still a lot of cold snow in the upper part of the gully (2600-2300).

Risks

According to LLB 2, supplementary report from the LWD, no avalanches involving people have been reported since February 14. the snowpack on the north side appeared to be well set. On the northeast side, there was also no moisture penetration on the ascent. We did not see any avalanches. On the descent there was some sluff but no (even thin) layer that would have slid as a board. According to the LWD, these safe conditions are gone with the storm on Saturday due to drifting snow. Blown-in surface rime will probably be a problem. We have already seen surface frost in many areas.

Overall impression

3 von 5 Sterne

The overall experience exceeds the individual ratings, as the favorable avalanche situation made it possible to ski down these steep gullies and after the long warm phase we still found cold, unaffected snow without a lid.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
